BaZi Calculator

In short

Enter your birth date, time and city to instantly get your BaZi chart — the Four Pillars of Destiny. You'll see your eight characters, your Day Master (the element that represents you), and your Five Elements balance. Free, no signup, and the whole calculation runs privately in your browser.

How this calculator works

  • Year pillar — set by the exact moment of lì chūn (立春, start of spring), not January 1st and not Chinese New Year.
  • Month pillar — set by the exact moment of the solar term (節) preceding your birth.
  • Day pillar — derived from the Julian Day Number of your local calendar date.
  • Hour pillar — set by your true solar time: your clock time adjusted by the gap between your city's longitude and its time zone's central meridian. Historical daylight saving is applied automatically.
  • Five Elements — counted from the main element of each of your eight characters.

Solar term timings are precomputed from the same astronomical data our app uses, so the chart here and the chart in Destiny Chart always agree. Nothing you enter leaves your device.

Frequently asked

Is this BaZi calculator really free?

Yes. Your full Four Pillars chart, your Day Master, and your Five Elements balance are free, with no signup. The Destiny Chart app adds AI-powered interpretation and daily guidance.

What do I need to calculate my BaZi chart?

Your birth date, your birth time (as exact as you can), and your birth city. The city matters because it sets your time zone and your true solar time.

What if I do not know my birth time?

Tick "I don't know my birth time" and the calculator returns your Year, Month and Day pillars. Only the Hour Pillar needs an exact time.

Does this use true solar time?

Yes. Your clock time is corrected by the difference between your birth city's longitude and the central meridian of its time zone, and historical daylight saving is handled automatically.

Is my birth data sent anywhere?

No. The entire calculation runs in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, stored, or sent to a server.
